Project: Business Unit Coordinator for the Green Transformation

Funded by the ERDF/JTF program NRW 2021–2027 – Future Vouchers TransformExpert

background

MABRI.VISION GmbH stands for innovative testing technology and optical measurement technology in industrial production processes. With the project "Business Field Coordinator for the Green Transformation," the company is actively shaping the transition to a climate-neutral economy.

The aim of the funded project is to develop new business areas in the context of the green transformation and to make existing production processes more energy- and resource-efficient through state-of-the-art machine vision technologies.

Project goals

The project pursues three strategic objectives:

  • Strengthening sustainable production processes: The increased use of modern optical inspection systems aims to reduce reject rates and make production processes more efficient. MABRI.VISION thus makes a measurable contribution to reducing energy and resource consumption in industry.
  • Unlocking future markets: The development of state-of-the-art testing solutions is specifically targeted at industries undergoing green transformation – particularly the life sciences industry, the hydrogen economy, and climate-friendly mobility. MABRI.VISION supports these markets in combining high quality standards with sustainable production processes.
  • Securing regional innovation: The project strengthens the position of the Aachen technology region as a center for innovative, climate-friendly industrial processes. At the same time, new, skilled jobs are being created in the fields of artificial intelligence, image processing, and sustainable manufacturing technology.

Key areas of implementation

The project focuses on building and coordinating structures that combine technological innovation with sustainable business practices.

Key areas of action include:

  • Technology and trend analysis: Systematic observation of technological developments in future industries and derivation of strategic market opportunities.
  • Innovation management: Development and implementation of concepts to use machine vision technologies specifically for sustainable production solutions.
  • Cooperation and knowledge transfer: Close collaboration with research institutions and regional partners for the further development of AI-based testing systems.
  • Market development: Expansion of business relationships in markets that make a significant contribution to climate-neutral industry.

Initial results and perspectives

During the first project phase, key future fields were identified in which optical inspection systems play a key role for sustainable industrial processes:

  • Life Sciences & Healthcare: Automated testing systems can shorten development times for medical devices and significantly reduce rejects. New applications are emerging in pharmaceutical packaging technology, such as automatic serial number reading ("track & trace") or leak testing of blisters.
  • Hydrogen technology: Precise inline testing methods are required in the production of fuel cells. MABRI.VISION develops approaches to inspect welds, form tolerances, and component geometries in real time – for increased quality, efficiency, and resource conservation.

These findings are incorporated into the further development of the product portfolio and form the basis for strategic investments in new, sustainable business areas.

Contribution to the green transformation

With this project, MABRI.VISION is making an active contribution to the transformation of industry in the Rhenish mining region. The project:

  • strengthens the competitiveness of regional companies,
  • promotes innovation in the field of sustainable production,
  • creates new skilled jobs and
  • reduces the ecological footprint of industrial processes.
